The German Shepherd gained enormous popularity when Rin Tin Tin charmed its way into the hearts of people, young and old. The breed has also been called “Alsatian”. It’s tough and mean appearance may give people second thoughts about getting one, but German Shepherds are known by many as one of the most lovable breeds of dog. In the past, they have been used as reliable herd dogs. But their extraordinary intelligence propelled them to a higher niche in society. They can easily be trained for police work and as rescue dogs. Overseas troops have faithful German Shepherds serving by their sides. They are very obedient and are protective of the pack.
