\r\n
\r\n1. Murphy chases the cat. When Murphy first joined the family we had a 6 month old kitten, Rascal, who liked playing with little Murphy. This was nice. Now little Murphy is nearly 5 months old and weighs 24 kg and about triple the size of the kitten (Rascal is a dainty domestic short haired cat which we rescued from Keysborough Animal Shelter).
\r\n
\r\nWhat started out as fun does not seem so much fun for the kitten now. Whenever Murphy sees Rascal he chases him. If Rascal is quietly sleeping on the bed, Murphy will charge up and really get into Rascals space, even tapping him with his paws. Rascal meows and runs off.
\r\n
\r\nWe try and stop Murphy but that is not always possible.
\r\n
\r\nIs there a way to get Murphy no longer interested in harassing the poor kitty?
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n2. Murphy keeps jumping up on hubby and trying to hump his legs, which causes scratches on hubby\'s legs from Murphy\'s grip (usually drawing blood, poor bugger). We have tried to remove hubby from the room and this may work for a liitle while. We have tried giving Murphy a time out and put him outside for 30 or so seconds. But then he comes back in and starts all over again. This is usually when he is in a high energy state and it is very hard to redirect his attention at this time.

    Golden Retriever puppy mayhem

We have a lovely, super high energy (nearly) 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy named Murphy.

Although we are doing relatively well with the ongoing training (1 step forward 2 steps back, but he is a puppy afterall!) we are having 2 distinct ongoing issues which we are not getting any where with. I would appreciate your advice, if possible.

What started out as fun does not seem so much fun for the kitten now. Whenever Murphy sees Rascal he chases him. If Rascal is quietly sleeping on the bed, Murphy will charge up and really get into Rascals space, even tapping him with his paws. Rascal meows and runs off.

We try and stop Murphy but that is not always possible.

Is there a way to get Murphy no longer interested in harassing the poor kitty?

    2. Murphy keeps jumping up on hubby and trying to hump his legs, which causes scratches on hubby's legs from Murphy's grip (usually drawing blood, poor bugger). Is there something we can do to stop Murphy from doing this? He does not do it to me.
