Wonderful cocker and small children

Our cocker spaniel Niko is 3 years old and has never really been around small children! Our new and only grandson, Hudson will be at our home for Christmas. Hudson will be a year old, just walking and of course moving all around. I am very concerned about Niko's behavior around him. There have been a few occasions when Niko has seemed aggressive toward small children. Again, he has only been around small children on a very limited basis. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Make sure that dog and child are well supervised at all times. Give the dog praise and encouragement when he is calm and friendly around Hudson, but try to give the dog some peace and quiet and 'normality' too. Be very careful that Hudson doesn't get a chance to grab the dog's fur or cause him discomfort in any way.
