\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->I got a white german shepard (about 14 weeks now) few weeks ago from a backRyard breeder and I think it\'s one of the worst thing I\'ve ever done. I didn\'t know the breeder was a backyard breeder till after a bought the puppy. She won\'t stop biting. I\'ve tried everything, offering her a chew toy, yelling no, giving a sharp yelp, pretty much everything except shock collar which I\'m saving for last resort though I fear I need to buy one really soon, if they\'re legal. She is a threat to my other pets as she keeps chasing them. My dad\'s is usually over cautious and protective but not sure why he isn\'t now. He lets her roam around where his bunnies live and I almost had to plan a funeral in many occasions. Tomorrow he plans to introduce her to my cat which he is drunk if he thinks that\'s gunna happen. My cat is my first pet and one of the most important thing in my life. Is there anything I can do to train the puppy? I have a muzzle but that won\'t help her claws. You can say I\'m wrong but I honestly believe she the worst puppy I\'ll ever meet, unless I become a professional dog whisperer or something. Lots of my friends have dogs and they\'re angels compared to her. My dad doesn\'t listen to me on these things, so he keeps on screwing up. I\'ll never forgive myself if my pet died. Im sorry if I ranted too much. Btw does anyone know a good doberman breeder? I really really hate white german shepards right now. Sorry but this dog tried to attack me and my family. It bit my dads neck and our tendants in our foot.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '-><!-' + '- AMS FIRST IN POST -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->Are you taking the puppy for walks every day? He needs plenty of exercise AND rewards for good behavior. All of the reprimanding only can definitely backfire. GDSs are working dogs and very high energy (you will find the doberman is high energy as well). Give him chew toys and a big knuckle bone for teething. Play fetch, take him for walks for exercise. Just playing isn\'t enough exercise they need the mental stimulation of the walks.Put a saddlebag on him even during the walk.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '-><!-' + '- AMS SECOND IN POST -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->All the things you mention are typical of young puppies but I don\'t know what it is about white GSD\'s but those puppies tend to be a handfull. Tifleah gave some good advice but I don\'t think I would put a saddlebag on a 14 week old pup. Bones and muscles just aren\'t developed that well yet. The pup needs a LOT of exercise. A walk around the block is not exercise for a pup like this. They need to run and get exausted. Chasing a ball in the backyard is good exercise for him. Chasing anything is good exercise.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

Bill is absolutely right about this for his age. I was not taking his age in consideration here. He\'s not even 4 months. Closer to a year, you can do one maybe, but nothing too heavy until at least 18 months because of the growing bones and joints. Sorry about that. - Tiffany<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->I take him to the backyard daily and we have a pretty big yard. As for the walking he hasn\'t got all of his shots yet, plus my dad\'s a lazy idiot. I\'m at school. :/. Another thing I want to ask is how old they are suppose to be for their ears to be erect, cuz her ears were erect the day we got her. I was worried about it but my dad said it was nothing so I told myself to forget about it. It rised to my attention again when I noticed the german shepards I saw in pictures had their ears on top of their heads pointing up, while my pup\'s ears are erect but to the side like a chihuhua, and looks like a fennec fox.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->This really is just common puppy behaviour. Cant you leave her out in the yard permanently? You just have to be firm with her until she learns, german shepards are just really hypo in general and must be walked daily, she\'s probably just really bored. She\'ll be fine with the cat, she just wants to play, kitty will get away quickly anyway so dont be worried about that. Using a shock collar on a 14 week old puppy I wouldn\'t advise however..<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->We recently got adopted a 10 month old doberman, who really is still a pup, we have a yorkie that she things she can play with and play very rough, its been tough. We finally got her to stop biting by using a water spray bottle, dont know if its right or wrong but its harmless to her and it works. She sees the bottle coming and stops now. * * * Unauthorized advertising deleted by Moderator * * * Bill hope this helps.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->Please do not use that shock collar; you will create more problems than you\'ll solve. You\'re seeing normal puppy behavior. Recommend you or your dad or both of you begin a training program with this pup using simple reward like Cheerios. The others posting who recommend walks are correct ... this also helps you to bond with your pup. Remember, this is a baby! If there is no time to invest in your pup, perhaps it is time to find her a new home with a more patient owner! Take the time to work with her, and in time you\'ll have you a nice dog. Oh... and get her those shots! Take good care of her.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->Reading this thread it seems clear to me that everyone agrees that the key here is exercise and training. (But remember he is still only a puppy.)
\nAggression and attacks by GSDs on people is due to poor handling and training. Problems arise when an owner allows the GSD to believe he is pack leader over humans and or does not give the GSD with the mental and physical daily exercise they need to be stable. A walk around the block, or playing in the back garden is just not good enough for them. You must be authoritative over the dog in a calm, but firm, confident and consistent way. A well trained*GSD is for the most part generally good with other pets and excellent with children in the family. But they must be firmly trained in obedience from an early age. GSDs who have passive owners and whose instincts are not being met can, become prone to fear biting. They should be trained and socialized from an early age. GSDs will not listen if they sense that they are stronger minded than their owner, however they will also not respond well to harsh discipline. (Please do not use that shock collar)The daily exercise must always include daily walks to satisfy the dogs migration instinct. If under-exercised and or mentally challenged, the GSD can become restless, destructive And Aggressive. GSDs Do best with a job to do.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

Angry Regretting I ever bought this puppy

I got a white german shepard (about 14 weeks now) few weeks ago from a backRyard breeder and I think it's one of the worst thing I've ever done. I didn't know the breeder was a backyard breeder till after a bought the puppy. She won't stop biting. I've tried everything, offering her a chew toy, yelling no, giving a sharp yelp, pretty much everything except shock collar which I'm saving for last resort though I fear I need to buy one really soon, if they're legal. She is a threat to my other pets as she keeps chasing them. My dad's is usually over cautious and protective but not sure why he isn't now. He lets her roam around where his bunnies live and I almost had to plan a funeral in many occasions. Tomorrow he plans to introduce her to my cat which he is drunk if he thinks that's gunna happen. My cat is my first pet and one of the most important thing in my life. Is there anything I can do to train the puppy? I have a muzzle but that won't help her claws. You can say I'm wrong but I honestly believe she the worst puppy I'll ever meet, unless I become a professional dog whisperer or something. Lots of my friends have dogs and they're angels compared to her. My dad doesn't listen to me on these things, so he keeps on screwing up. I'll never forgive myself if my pet died. Im sorry if I ranted too much. Btw does anyone know a good doberman breeder? I really really hate white german shepards right now. Sorry but this dog tried to attack me and my family. It bit my dads neck and our tendants in our foot.
