    Stubbornness

    Do you have any dogs who are just plain stubborn? It's probably a dominant thing, but I laugh all the time at my youngest dog. She really is stubborn ... unless there's a treat at stake; then she's perfect!

    I suspect its one of two things ....

    1. She really doesn't understand exactly what you want her to do ... or

    2. She knows if she holds out she will get a reward for doing it.

    I haven't personally had a stubborn dog, but I have had a few real characters! Are you sure your dog understands what you want her to do?

    No, I haven't had a stubborn dog but one in particular liked to push the boundaries sometimes.

    LOL Ah, no, Bill. She knows exactly what she is supposed to do, and she doesn't get treats for doing unless that's the plan going in. For example, I'll get my command for her to go inside her crate. She'll go, right away, but then she'll leave 2 paws out. I'll just stare at her, and one paw will retract. More stares, and finally she'll go right in. Now, if I say it's time for treats and get in your crate, she gets about as deep inside of it as you can imagine. She's a very smart dog, but she is definitely stubborn. :}
