Bill is right, dogs can recognise words, mine knows park, walk. lead, bath and a few others. She can spell too, she knows exactly what V-E-T spells and she is never happy to when that word is mentioned.

I guess there is some truth in that, my dog is deaf but she knows instantly if we use the V word (maybe she lip reads!!)
