I have always used the flea treatments prescribed by the vet. We do not have a problem with fleas and I would like to keep it that way, but I was wondering if there are more natural options available to keep fleas away?

I just always remember that cleaning key -- whenever you treat the dogs, treat the house, inside and out, and their bedding.
There are several natural options, however none of them actually work. I know we are going to get posts from people saying they use this natural treatment or that natural treatment and it works but I don't buy it. Most years my dogs don't get fleas if I do nothing. If I had used a natural treatment, I would swear thats what kept the fleas away but it wasn't.
I think it is better to stick with what you have been using if it has worked well enough so far.
If its not broke, dont try to fix it. If what your using has been working so far just keep on using it. Because different flea preventatives are going to work differently depending on the area in which you live. for instance Frontline or the generic Pet Armor work well in my area, but for some reason Advantage/Advantix doesnt work so well. But for my friend who lives out of state its the other way around. I think it has something to do with the very different wildlife population. If you live in an area that is heavily populated by deer you will have more of a proble with fleas and ticks being carried around vs living in an area that doesnt have many deer or wild animals coming right up to your door. Also another thing that effects it is whee you walk. If your walking on sidewalks or streets you have less of a chance picking something up then if your walking through the woods or playing in very tall grass ect.
