We have one spoiled chow/cocker mix. She is about 10 years old and we've had her since she was about newborn.
Hi there and a big welcome to the forum, looking forward to getting to know you and your dog better, what's her name?
Our girl's name is Chica. She has been used to our work schedules. However, I went through a couple of surgeries that had me home for a couple of weeks at a time and then my mother-in-law passed away, so we were out of schedule then. Now she is going through, I think, some kind of anxiety problem. Now that we are back to work, she tears up the rug and any boxes we have on our back landing. Any suggestions? I have read that you are not to scold.
No, you never scold a dog when you don't catch him in the act. He will have no idea what you are scolding him for. Even if you show him the torn up rug, he won't remember tearing it up and won't associate it with him. I would go back to the crate when you are away until he gets used to the routine again. Shouldn't take more than a week or so.

Hello it is great to meet you. Do you have a picture that you could post of your dog?
