Hello - happy to find an obedience forum!

Hello everyone! I currently have three dogs, two Goldens and one Sheltie. Timber (a Golden) is 14 and has a CD after his name. Jax (another Golden) is my 2 year old. He is my conformation dog turned obedience dog. He has mild hip dysplasia in one hip, a situation I have never had before. My Sheltie is actually my oldest daugher's dog. She has been ready to get her CD for sometime now but my daughter has been very busy. I believe her first show will be in October.

Well, we are happy you found us! Welcome to the forum. I am from the UK, and out training systems are a little different. I am guessing that CD means conformation dog? I would be very interested to know what is required to get a CD? It would be lovely to see some pics of your dogs too.

Actually CD stands for Companion Dog. There are six exercises to obtain a CD title.
    1. Heel on leash and a figure 8
    2. Stand for examination
    3. Heel Free (no leash)
    4. Recall (sit, stay, come, heel)
    5. Long Sit (for one minute)
    6. Long down (for three minutes)

There are two more main titles CDX and UD (utility dog). I will explain those later.

How do the UK titles work? Is this a primarily UK used site? I live in the state of Wisconsin.

Thanks for the info, that is very interesting. In the UK, most people work on getting their dogs through various awards - here is a link to the bronze award -
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/down...gcdsbronze.pdf After this you can work on silver and gold awards too.

The site is worldwide, we have folk from both sides of the pond on here as well as other countries too. Anyone with an interest in dogs is most welcome to join us.

We have been having a few problems with posting pictures through the forum at the minute [or at least I don't seem to be seeing any pics!]. If you have a photosharing account like photobucket or flickr, you can easy post pictures on here by copying over the links.
