    Needing advice

Hi John, are you an obedience dog trainer? If so, I posted a message today the 18th July, regarding my Dachshund and his drops. I go by the name of daxrus. If you are able to help I would be most grateful.

    I need your advise/opinion John!

Hi John, I need your advise/opinion please! My name is Terrance. (Email is terrancekriedler@hotmail.com) I just got a golden retriever mix from a shelter last week. According to the papers it seems he had been there about 5 months. He was with 2 others and the three of them had come from a guy who was deported. I understand they lived at a restaurant. When all the other dogs at the shelter were barking, including his two cellmates, he just layed there and didn't bark. We chose him and brought him home. The problem is, he doesn't seem to know how to be a happy dog. I've tried to get him to play but he has no interest. He just wants to lay around. And he doesn't bark at anything! Last night someone knocked at the door and he just layed there and looked at the door. Will he become more possessive as he gets used to his new home and family more? He seems so shy and reserved about everything I think he may have been abused. What can I do to turn him back into a happy dog who wants to play. How can I get him to bark when he hears someone enter the yard? Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. Terrance
