    Introduction

    Hi, my name is Penni. I have only one dog right now. Jack is a 7 1/2 month old Border Collie. He has been to puppy class level one & two and is just starting Agility training. We live in eastern Ontario.

    Welcome, Penni. I'm enjoying my participation here and am sure you will as well. There are other border collies who are members, too. I don't have one, but I used to babysit one! :}

    HI Penni, welcome to the forum. I have a border collie x, Jakey, he is 11 this year. We do obedience and agility too. I am interested to read that you are starting agility with your boy already. At the 2 schools I have been too, neither of them allowed any dogs to use the jumps until they are over 1 year in age - their bones are still forming before this time, and jumping can stress/damage them.

    Agility

    Hi Stephanie - we were able to start agility because the jumps are only set a few inches off the ground. It really is more about the dog following your lead, than jumping at this point. Jack is really enjoying it however he barks constantly when other dogs are having their turn. Hoping this is age related. Our previous BC did not bark at all.

    That's really interesting about the jumps being just a few inches off the ground and a good idea too.......I guess no one over here has ever thought of lowering the jumps right down, funny that......

    Sorry about the barking, sure hope he does grow out of it.......I'm lucky mine don't bark but I do see quite a few collies and springers barking whilst actually running the course.
