Hi all. We have recently adopted a rescue dog who is just over a year old. The past history was a little sketchy but we know he spent his first year of life shut in a garden and left to bark, which is probably where this issue stems from. Since living with us however, he has enjoyed an abundance of love and affection as well as proper feeding and care. He gets long walks twice a day and, due to me being retired, vary rarely gets left at home alone. At most 2 or 3 hours once or twice a week. The problem we have is that on these rare occasions, whilst being perfectly house trained at all other times, he seems to do a 'protest' poo and/or wee for us to come home to. He is a Saluki and having a crate would be impracticable due to the size. By the time we get home, the 'deed' has long since been done and therefore no point trying to deal with it there and then as it is far too late. Does anybody know of any good methods of training this habit out of him?
