My have to stand between my boys while they eat so they do not eat each others food but i have always fed them in the same room so one would not become possesive and I have always made it very clear to my boys that I am the alpha and respected leader so whenever I need to correct unacceptable behavior my boys listen. My boys are the same age, six months old, and one of them, Darcy, is great until I put his dish down, then if he sees any one of the other two coming near, he sounds like something from the exorcist...seriously...you know when the girl is possessed and stuck to the ceiling?? LOL. I have to feed them separately because Thomas, the other pup is a real gutsy one and eats as much as he can lay his paws on!! I have to be sure of which one is eating what. My animals all have a different diet but they all get fed together and they know their place, I have to be there to stop the cat from stealing the dogs food, but feeding them together works well. I think by feeding your dog in your room you are making her possessive of you and your room so one way or another the feeding place needs to change.

It sounds harsh but it stops begging and the animals know that anything I am eating is mine not theirs so it stops competition. In your situation I would have a no feeding except in the dog bowl rule and if your dog gets possessive when you eat have him go to his place (bed or crate) and stay there until you allow him to move. As Justontime said it helps if you always feed the dogs from their bowls in their feeding place, then they know that they don\'t need to compete for food and they will not bother you when you are eating.

I have to lock him up to eat every time it\'s annoying but I worry about mine around kids. Better safe than sorry. A trainer would be able to help and a some of the rescue centres do a lot of work with dogs around food issues and they could probably give you some advice. If he can do tricks it shows he is able to be trained, so don\'t give up.
