\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->Hello all,
\nI just joined here and hope someone can me some advice. We got a dog ("for free") that had no medical history, no papers etc. The owner that we got him from only had him about a month because he was intimidating the youngest child. Since we\'ve had him (10 weeks +/-), he\'s been neutered, up to date with shots and obedience class. He\'s is a mix of Shepherd and maybe Husky. It\'s like he is on high alert 24/7. If a truck goes by, he starts to bark. If someone in the house bumps a wall or knocks on a door (in front of him), he barks. That\'s the minor problem. Since he has had his distemper shots he has become increasingly aggressive and started having seizures. The Vet has prescribed Phenobarbital to help with the seizures and so far that has helped. Yesterday was almost the breaking point. Every time my son walks by him he growls but at the same time he is wagging his tail. My son has gone out of his way to try to win him over to no avail. Yesterday he nipped at my Mother-In-Laws hand and scared the daylights out of her. My daughter was holding him back and tried to nip at her foot.
\n
\nAfter he had his distemper shot we finally got in contact with the original owner that said they had the distemper shot done but they didn\'t have any records nor did they seem to care.
\n
\nWould the 2 distemper shots make him aggressive and if so how long will that last? Any other ideas as to why he would have the mood change?
\nThanks in advance,
\nDave

    \r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->What about rabies shot? Those have been known to make a dog aggressive. Over vaccination of any kind of vaccine can cause behavior problems. Also if a dog is a husky or a shephard or both, he will need A LOT of exercise. Both breeds are bred to run all day. A walk around the block is not exercise for either of these breeds. At least an hour a day of solid running is needed by dogs like this. Barking at moving objects (car or truck) is common for herding dogs. They will try to herd the vehicle.

    \r\nI\'m afraid you are going to have to get in person help with the nipping problems. I think it\'s more than someone on the internet can help you with.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '-><!-' + '- AMS SECOND IN POST -' + '->\r\n

      Dog has major issues

      Hello all,

      Would the 2 distemper shots make him aggressive and if so how long will that last? Any other ideas as to why he would have the mood change?
      Thanks in advance,
      Dave

      Forgot to mention that he is around 4 years old.
