Since our two dogs are members of our family, we let them give us kisses, which generally means letting them lick all over our faces including our lips. I have heard that this can be unhealthy for the owner, though. Do you let your dogs kiss you or do you think it's disgusting?
I'm not one to make a big deal out of germs- AND I raw feed my dogs.
That being said, I do teach my dogs "kisses" and will allow them to lick my face with the command. I know a lot of people do not like this, and that's why I never allow or encourage it unless they've been invited, I wouldn't want them getting the bright idea with company.
It doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I wouldn't want such kisses from anyone else's dog....
For decades, I have enjoyed thousands of doggie kisses. I could not live without them!
I don't let them lick my face other than that I am fairly relaxed about licking, but I know that a lit of people don't like it so I have not encouraged it.
Can't put your face too close to a boxer, you are guaranteed to get it covered in kisses!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who loves doggie kisses, lol. But I also try to discourage our dogs from kissing other people's faces. It's not easy though. Labs love everybody!
I am not a fan, sorry. I judt dont want a dog licking me when he licks particular parts of his body..ha plus, some guests do not like it so i discourage Gunnie boy from licking. He gets a quick lick in every once in awhile though:)
I agree Chrlys4th, I don't like licking especially on the face, it hasn't really ever been something I had to discourage, I just didn't encourage it.
I think that sums it up kernow, it is not something I encourage and I make sure they don't lick my face, but I love dogs and I am not going to scold them for a natural and friendly response.
I leave it up to the guests, who you tend to know very fast how they feel about dogs. I don't just let my dogs push people around, so to speak.
I expect my pets to have good manners with guests, I don't like my doge to jump up or to be over fussy, but my guests know that I have pets and I am not going to shut the animals away to please anyone. Most of my friends love animals and Lucy enjoys lots of attention.Quote:

As for guests, we're still working with Rocky not to jump & Jasper not to walk out the door whenever it is opened so they are usually put up when someone comes over. With Rocky as big as he is, I just feel safer with him put up especially if the guests are children.
Just, that's pretty much what I'm saying. There is a balance that I like to achieve.
When it comes to guests our dog is well behaved and one cat beats a hasty retreat when he sees strangers, but the other cat wanders in takes a look at them and parks himself on their lap. Training dogs is one thing but training cats is practically impossible!

Personnaly I don't like my dogs licking me, purely because I watch them throughout the day picking up all kinds in the park/garden, drinking dirty water and licking their backsides- that is not something I then want on my face!!

Then of course there is doggy breath, even with a very good diet it is not something I wish to experience right in my face.
Fed a proper diet, dogs don't have "doggy breath". My dog's breath has no odor to it at all.Quote:

My two goldens, before I began feeding raw, had breath that would clear a room. The vet even commented on it several times but within a week of raw feeding, the breath was very fresh. Their terribly yellowed teeth were pearly white within a month. The vet had been after me to get them cleaned for 3 years but I kept putting it off. When she saw them after beginning raw, she was amazed. She wanted to know how I got them so white. Nuff bragging ... carry on. :)
Fortunately bad breath isn't much of an issue, just from time to time.
Definitely agree. I leave it up to the guests and let them decide. But if the dogs get annoying then I usually tell them to stop.
I love doggie kisses, puppy kisses w/puppy breath, cat kisses (maybe that's a bath?), and even horse kisses. Affection is a wonderful thing!:p
