\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->It is scary to see it but you did the right thing by being there and talking to her. Remember that even if she seems distressed at the time she probably remembers very little about it afterwards. If you possibly can get the vet to check her over.

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->I took her to the vet 3 years ago after the 2nd seizure and they don\'t know. She\'d need an MRI to determine anything for sure. He did offer medication if I wanted but he said she\'d have to be on it forever and it was extremely expensive. I\'m just watching her very closely, and I have researched a lot to see what others have experienced. I believe that my remaining calm does help her. I\'m just keeping her close like she seems to want. She was a little off late last night so I don\'t know if she might not have another full out, but once she went to sleep, she\'s been fine, and today thus far, she\'s okay ... but .. watching her like a hawk and not leaving her alone right now.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

\r\n <!-' + '- google_ad_section_start -' + '->Oh Orrymain, I really feel for you. My mum has a little dog that has seizures. He was a rescue dog and his seizures started a couple of months after my mum got him, that is probably why his previous owners gave him up. There have been times when he had to be kept at the vets for a few days because he was fitting so badly. My mum refused to give up on him but his medication costs a fortune, in total for his epilepsy, heart and eye medications it costs about £100 per month so it is a real struggle.

I have decided to switch my dog\'s dry dog food and do some home cooking for her as well. \nI have been using chinese herbs one my little Rat Terrier, Buster, for his trechea. We went to the vet and they wanted to put chemials and pills down his throut, but I am not comfortable with all that. I get the herbs from "PawHealer.com" they are on the internet and have information, FAQ, things for you to look into. Its a natural way of doing things, if you are interested. The daughter eventually died due to unstoppable seizures at only age 6. But the mother I was able to help, and she lived to be over 14. I had her tested at a vet\'s for epilepsy, but that was not the problem. He did mention that he thought her problems might be due to sugar metabolism.

\r\nAs I have for years taken chromium picolinate myself to help metabolize sugar, and have kept diabetes at bay because of it, I started giving it to her in the event sugar metabolism was the problem (about 500 mcgs per day). As long as I gave it to her, she never had another seizure. After about 5 years of giving it to her, I decided maybe she didn\'t need it anymore. By then, she was about 12 or 13. Within 3 weeks, she had another seizure. I immediately got her back on it.

\r\nAnother thing - in the earlier days, whenever I could see she was exhibiting signs of going into a seizure, I dissolved a baby aspirin in a teaspoon of water and forced it down her throat. If I was able to do that quickly, it would stave off the seizure. Why, I do not know. But it worked every time! Hope that helps somebody else\'s poor dogs with seizures. They are terrible for them, and for us.

And he is running around doing the "dog thngs" and some of the agility we were training for. without the hack cough sound that tore out my tummy. I have to say I was questionable about it all. ALWAYS for the animals, then if I have any energy left I do something for me. It\'s finally getting much cooler, so the aroma of soup is in the air.....yummy.

\nI have found adding egg shells adds calcum to the diet, smash them really well almost to a powder. The bigger pieces I feed back to the chickens, they need it too.

, but it\'s good for the kids.

Just lay on floor stock still and sometimes her eyes rolled up. I used to sit with her until she came out of it, then stay on floor with her, as she usually slept for a while afterwards. She was usually quite subdued for the rest of that day, The vet as yours did say she could have MRI if these became more frequent. We wondered if she had been hit on head, as she was a very traumatised rescue.She lived until 14 years of age, very happily and the "turns" became less frequent with age. Its so sad, but I really dont think the dogs are aware .all I could do is love her more.<!-' + '- google_ad_section_end -' + '->\r\n

We had a horrible night/morning today. Cassie had a seizure. She had one 4 years ago and then 3 years ago and now again for the 1st time since then. It started, though, about 1am with her doing that head jut thing. I just held her and talked to her. After 90 minutes, she went to sleep and was fine during the night. Then at 7am, it started again. Took 2 hours this time. She was fine until about noon and then she had the full blown seizure. I just hate it; breaks my heart. She's been fine since, and I'm hoping we're done with this ... again. I don't know the cause. When I took her to the vet after the 2nd seizure, they didn't know. I don't have the money for an MRI or whatever. I don't know if she's epileptic or what, but it sure is scary.
