    buddy is straining after poops

Hi there, This is puzzling me.Buddy has begun straining after pooping, several times during our walks. He is producing tiny amounts of water like substance.could there be a blockage. We are going to see the vet this evening.Bud has the usual amount of energy and is eating okay.Has anyone experienced this please or any theories??

What have you fed him lately? Almost no chance of blockage. If he's eating ok, has energy and otherwise feels good, don't waste money on a trip to the vet.

Sometimes the dogs I walk do this but I don't know why they do it, I don't think it is something to worry about, as I have never had the owners tell me they have taken the dog to the vets or anything because of it. Blockages are quite common in puppies - they eat all sorts of things that they shouldn't, but the symptons of blockage are different to what you are telling us - if Buddy is pooping ok, and not arching his back and trying to be sick, his tummy isn't swollen or he is pain when you touch his tummy, then I am guessing - and it is a pure guess, that it is something like a little gastric flu maybe? I hope Buddy is ok, if you take him to the vets, please let us know what the vet says/thinks, I would be very interested to know.

Hi thanks for replies, we did take Buddy to vets, he needed his claws trimmed for the first time (what a performance!) the vet said it maybe a reaction to something he is eating, or irritable bowel syndrome. BUT I am inclined to think it is just one of his oddities. He "DID" loads yesterday and still thought he had more to do!! so we will see how he goes on. he has always seemed to do a watery one at the end, strange dog! happy xmas to you all
