new to puppy training

We adopted 2 abandoned puppies. They are about 7 - 8 weeks old at this point. My husband and I haven't had a puppy in a long time. I've been doing lots of online reading and I understand the basic concepts of consistency, routine, bladder control, crate training etc.

Our daughter is almost 8 years old. She likes to play with them and take them for walks. We are hoping they will enjoy growing up together. We also have an adult (1+ year old) calico cat who is getting used to the puppies but hasn't yet started playing with them.

We live in the country and plan to have the puppies outside in a fenced area most of the day since we work full time. Indoor time will be for attention and play and some napping in crate.
