This may sound like an odd question, but have you come across any dogs that you just couldn't take to? I love animals and I usually get on well with all the dogs I know, but one of my friends has a little dog that I just can't take to. Is it just me or has this happened to anyone else?
yeah, but its usually the fault of the owners.![]()

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring-it was peace. - Milan Kundera
Not specifically, at least that I can remember. I'm leery of pit bulls though, but I don't blame them, I blame the folks who created the breed.
Yes Bill, I think in this case it is mostly due to the dog being indulged, she doesn't know her place and she has no manners.
That has happened to me but not very often. I remember a very snappy Pekingese that belonged to my friend's mum years ago. It bit me several times, but it was sneaky about it, it wouldn't come up and growl, it would creep up behind you and get you when you were not looking. I have never been afraid of dogs, not even that one, but it was very hard to have kind thoughts about it.
Kernow, I don't think I would have been very happy about that dog! I have been annoyed by barking dogs and such like before and I have met dogs that I wouldn't have wanted to own. with this dog it is different I just don't like her. She is only a little dog and she is not aggressive at all, she is just very assertive and in your face all the time wanting to be the centre of attention. It makes me feel bad for not liking her.
Perhaps you need to think about it differently, do you like every child you meet? I certainly don't (and it is mainly down to parenting). We are all different, and different dogs suit different people.
Actually, my aunt had a palmeranian who didn't like anyone but her, my uncle, and me! That's sort of the reverse scenario, but it was fun.
I guess what Kernow said makes sense, there is no reason why we should like every dog we meet.
There are certain breeds of dogs that I could not take too and I'm afraid beagles top my list - apologises to the beagle owners, but I just can't deal with the recall issues...........or lack of recall should I say! I have been walking a beagle for 3 years now, he is really a very sweet natured dog, but I can never let him off the long line because he only comes back when he feels like it. Seems like most of the other beagle owners I meet at the park say the same thing too. Not only the recall probs, but the copious amount of sniffing they do and not to mention the loudness and the sound of the barking - makes my ears ring and my head spin. I could never take to this breed of dog or own one.
