My beautiful 6 month male labrador has developed anxiety issues when we leave the house and after about 5 hours on a night, as a result he is soiling in the house when left alone and eating it....I have just read the advise offered on the web site regarding treatment for anxiety, training will begin today, however, how do i stop my puppy eating his poop beforee he becomes ill???!!
He won't become ill so don't worry about that. They way you stop it is to take away the opportunity. Clean up any messes as soon as they are made. I know this is difficult when he does it when you are away. Keep him crated when you are away and that will keep him from pooping. If he is pooping in the crate, make the crate smaller by putting a barrier inside the crate. You will find a lot of remedies for this problem but unfortunately none of them work.
