My husband had to take the guinea pig to the vet and he was horrified when the vet walked into the waiting room and called for Superman! The new dog knew his name and as he was very insecure the dog rescue people were keen that she should not change his name, so he became Timmy Two. We have made an effort not to compare him with his namesake and now (he is an old man now) he has become a much loved dog with his own character and personality. It is not ideal to name one dog after another, but when it happens by chance it doesn\'t have to be a problem.

When he came in my doggie door, and I later received his papers.. I changed his papered name to "Buster Keaton". No more fighting for anything, just a real fun dog to be with. My dog already had a name when we adopted her, she was called Duce, I hated the name but wanted to change it to a name with a similar sound, she became Lucy, a new name and a new start and she is now a very happy little dog.
